The RICA Difference

CREATED FOR COLD BREW:
Coarse ground specifically for cold brew extraction. This medium roast is calibrated for slow steeping, producing a smooth, naturally sweet cold brew concentrate with low acidity and zero harshness.

BRIGHT, FLORAL & CITRUS FORWARD:
Expect lively notes of citrus and jasmine with a refreshing structure and layered complexity. A vibrant, aromatic profile ideal for those who prefer a lighter cold brew.

MEXICAN SINGLE-ORIGIN FROM CHIAPAS:
Sourced exclusively from high-altitude farms in Chiapas, Mexico. Volcanic soil, shaded mountain terrain, and slow bean maturation create clarity, sweetness, and depth.

100% ARABICA, HIGH-ALTITUDE GROWN:
Crafted from premium 100% Arabica beans cultivated in cool mountain climates. Higher elevation increases density and complexity, ideal for cold extraction.

SHADE-GROWN AND REGENERATIVE:
Each bag supports regenerative agriculture and soil restoration initiatives in Chiapas, sustaining biodiversity and the farming families behind every harvest.

We source our coffee beans exclusively from the lush, overlooked region of Chiapas, Mexico - a hidden treasure that represents just 2% of global coffee production. Grown in rich volcanic soil at high altitudes, these beans develop a remarkable density and complexity that shine through in every sip.

GROUND COFFEE FAQ
What does “RICA” mean?

RICA means “rich” and “delicious” in Spanish. It reflects both the rich flavor of our coffee and the deep cultural richness of Chiapas, the region where our coffee is grown. Every bag is a connection between place, people, and flavor.

Where does RICA source its coffee beans from?

RICA Ground Coffee is made exclusively with 100% Arabica single-origin beans from Chiapas, Mexico, one of the world’s most exceptional coffee-growing regions. These high-altitude farms, set in volcanic soil, produce beans with rich, complex flavors and naturally low acidity.

Why is Mexican coffee considered rare or special?

Mexican coffee makes up only about 2% of global production, making it a true hidden gem. The combination of altitude, volcanic soil, and regenerative farming methods creates a smooth, layered taste that’s hard to find elsewhere. By choosing RICA, you help bring attention to this underrepresented origin.

How does RICA support farmers in Chiapas?

We partner directly with smallholder farmers in Chiapas, supporting regenerative practices that restore soil health and improve long-term yields. A portion of every purchase is reinvested into community-led initiatives that strengthen local farming ecosystems.

What’s the difference between RICA’s three roasts?
  • La Lomita (Light Roast): Bright, floral, and citrus-forward with crisp acidity.
  • La Fortaleza (Medium Roast): Balanced and smooth, with brown sugar and walnut notes.
  • La Ventana (Dark Roast): Deep, rich, and full-bodied with dark chocolate and almond flavor.
Are RICA coffees pre-ground or whole bean?

RICA Ground Coffee comes pre-ground to the ideal coarseness for cold brew. It’s ready to steep right out of the bag - no grinder required.

How should I brew RICA Ground Coffee for cold brew?

Use a 1:5 coffee-to-water ratio (1 cup coffee to 5 cups filtered water). Steep for 12-20 hours at room temperature, strain the coffee grounds, and then refrigerate.

Can I use RICA Ground Coffee for hot brewing?

Yes. Although crafted for cold brew, it also performs beautifully in French press or drip brewing, showcasing each roast’s unique flavor notes.

How should I store RICA Ground Coffee?

Keep it sealed in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Use within 2–3 weeks of opening for peak freshness.

Where is RICA Ground Coffee roasted and packaged?

Our beans are sustainably grown in Chiapas, Mexico, then roasted and packaged in Monterrey, Mexico. They are then sent to the U.S. under strict quality standards for consistency and freshness.
